This post is pretty typical of the things that just pop into my life whenever I try and do anything. I started this before noon and now I have just started writing it at 6:00PM in the evening. So far this has been a pretty busy weekend. Yesterday involved a trip to the recycling center, a stop at the bank and then a 40 mile drive to Sam's Club. We bought some stuff though with the cost of driving 80 mile roundtrip I doubt we saved any money. But it is fun to go anyway because Carl and I love to see huge amounts of items we would never need. Carl calls the place the "double store" because with jelly and syrup things come in twos. He was looking forward to the trip and it give us a nice family outing. Which is kind of funny. Then Nicole and Calvin took a nap which left Carl and I to our own devices. We played some Madden football in which he controlled all of the Vikings running plays. Then that evening I jokingly asked Nicole if she would play a board game "The Russian Campaign" with me. She agreed though she read her book at the same time. It was a good time and next thing you know it is 11:00 PM and the boys are still up with is way past there bed time. Of course I tell myself that this is good exercise for tonight as they attempt to stay up to midnight with us to celebrate the new year. Today started late because everyone went to bed so late. Then Nicole made pancakes, freshly squeezed orange juice, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. As usual she tried to make as big as mess in the kitchen as possible. The agreement between us is that I clean up if she cooks and she cleans up if I cook. Of course I make pretty easy things like mac and cheese and pizza which I end up cleaning up as I go. When Nicole cooks she likes to make complicated recipes that involve every dish in the kitchen. If the food didn't taste as good as it did, there might be problems. Anyway I started this posting by uploading a picture and then got distracted by something. Next thing I know I have the central vaccum out and I am vaccumming the entire downstairs and the steps to the basement. I then get the rocks out of the rock tumbler and remove all the course grit off of them and out of the rock tumbler. This took awhile as I had to go outside and wash the grit off and then scrub down the inside walls to remove as much as was possible. This took a great amount of time. Of course the good news is that I will repeat this process in two weeks with the medium grit is replaced with polish. I am looking forward to that. Then Nicole, Carl, Calvin and I went to the store to pick up New Year eve party supplies. Then as we were driving across the parking lot to go to the Liquor Store to get the champaign Nicole looks back and sees I didn't buckle up Calvin, but had just placed him in his car seat. I don't know how I forgot to do that. I forgot once when Carl was a toodler too, so if I only forgot once per child that is not too bad. That being said I hope to never do it again. Once back home the dishwasher was done so I was able to clean up the kitchen from breakfast, once that was accomplished I made lunch. I was able to watch some of the Indianpolis game. Peyton Manning is the quarterback in my fantasy football team, and I am in the league finals with the league I set up with my friends at work. The public league I joined I won last week. Then I set up the boy's train track which is very big and complicated since Santa dropped off the extra pieces. I have figured out why it seems like I get very little done. Since I have started writing, I have done the following. Checked to see what the boys were up to as this banging noise was being made. They were just playing in their toy closet. I heated the oven up and then when I heard it beep I put in the chicken nuggets for the boys' dinner. I changed Calvin's diaper, he pooped and you have to wait until his done or you will end up changing two diapers. Of course Carl doesn't like to wait and demands something be done right away. Of course Calvin has also stopped by and offered me a goldfish cracker and refused to take no for an answer. I still have to sign Carl up for soccer for the spring by midnight otherwise it will be an extra ten dollars. I wonder if I will be an angry parent and threaten coaches and officials lives if I feel they slight Carl. I somehow doubt it, but of course I ever saw some of the coaches I had when I was playing little league I would beat them with a baseball bat so that put some doubt into my mind. Current Mood: annoyed
